Medicare 101

 

We host Medicare 101 seminars at least monthly in-person and over Zoom in Erie, Chautauqua, and Cattaraugus counties to explain essential filing deadlines, application processes, and enrollment windows. These meetings are informational and free to anyone participating. As with any of our meetings, there is no obligation or pressure to enroll with us. We are merely trying to develop a better understanding of Medicare for you and gain your trust.


Medicare Part A & B

 

Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) covers inpatient hospital stays, care in a skilled nursing facility, hospice care, and some home health care. Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) covers certain doctors' services, outpatient care,


Medicare Advantage (Part C)

 

Medicare Advantage Plans are a type of Medicare health plan offered by a private company that contracts with Medicare to provide all your Part A and Part B benefits. Most Medicare Advantage Plans also offer prescription drug coverage. These are often referred to as Medicare Part C.


Medicare Drug Plans (Part D)

 

Medicare drug plans cover generic and brand-name drugs. All plans must cover the same categories of drugs, but plans can generally choose which include coverage of specific drugs in each drug category. Another common name for these plans is Medicare Part D.


Medicare Supplement (Medigap)

 

A Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) policy is health insurance that can help pay some of the health care costs that Original Medicare doesn't cover, like coinsurance, copayments, or deductibles. Private insurance companies sell Medigap policies.
